Professor Borden Awarded NIH Grant

Professor Mark Borden was recently awarded an R21 grant from the National Cancer Institute to develop microbubbles as contrast agents for ultrasound imaging of tumors.  Microbubbles serve as contrast agents that unlock the potential of ultrasound to detect blood flow at the capillary level as well as molecular expression of vascular biomarkers.  In collaboration with Professors Jessica Kandel (Surgery) and Darrell Yamashiro (Pediatric Oncology), the microbubble technology will be used to gain a better understanding of the underlying biological response of pediatric tumors to therapy.
