Professor McNeill Receives Grant From The Petroleum Research Fund

Prof. V. Faye McNeill was recently awarded a Doctoral New Investigator grant from the ACS Petroleum Research Fund to study the sources and chemistry of organic material in atmospheric aerosols.

The McNeill Group will investigate the chemical kinetics of glyoxal uptake to aqueous aerosols using a novel experimental approach that bridges the disparate timescales that are typically accessible in laboratory‐based aerosol studies. The results of this work will contribute to our fundamental understanding of the chemistry of organic material in aqueous systems, and will strengthen our understanding of the complex cause‐and‐effect relationship between anthropogenic and biogenic emissions of volatile organic compounds and ambient atmospheric aerosol particle loadings.
